T Stands for Virtual Lunch

The Moms Breakfast Club usually meets during school breaks since two of the moms work for their town school system. Now that school is on hiatus, it seems like a good time to get together. Virtually. Instead of breakfast, it was decided we would meet for lunch.

I set up the iPad in the dining room along with my ham sandwich with mustard, no cheese on homemade bread. The loaf was freshly baked and I got to have the heel, my favorite part of the bread. No  one else likes it. I also had some pretzels, but ate them before the chat because I thought the crunching might be too loud. I also had a cup of ice tea, and some oatmeal butterscotch cookies.

We had some difficulties getting connected. Facetime, Zoom, tried to get people to download Skype or remember their passwords, tried Zoom. It was quite funny and bit like:

We finally got things going on Zoom. We had a great time checking in with each other, catching up on things we were doing, husbands, kids, comparing shopping expeditions and which stores were stocked up. All in all an enjoyable lunch date. The best part? Not having to worry about not finding a parking spot at the breakfast place.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  1. That was a fun way of getting together. The heel is my fave part of the bread, too! Happy T Day, Valerie

    1. A good thing a loaf comes with two heels. We could each have one. 😺

  2. Great virtual lunch, and idea. FYI: there have been some articles about Zoom not being secure.

    Happy T-Day!

    1. Yeah, I heard. It wasn't the platform I wanted to work on, but it wasn't up to me.

  3. Oh, I could send over heels en masse!
Nice of you to eat those pretzels before the meeting, too :-)

I feel so old right now. We use FB chat, the good ole phone or WhatsApp!

    1. I would have preferred Skype, but who didn't have the app, didn't want to download...

  4. This sounds like a real fun get together, you sure were social distancing from each other.
    Happy T day wishes.

  5. I wonder how many people are going to carry on virtually after all this is over? It really is simpler. (BTW, it's the ELBOW of the bread, not the heel! According to my sons when they were little. LOL)

  6. I stand corrected. The elbow of the bread 😺

  7. Sounds like a very fun way to get together with friends-I would have no clue on how to even do that-so good going to all of you.
I was brought up that it is the heel of the bread too and was always my favorite too-especially with homemade bread. Happy T wishes Kathy

    1. I've used it while taking a class. I didn't have to do anything. The instructor sent a link for the class room. You clicked on it and then that was it.

    1. We tried facetime, but with multiple us we could only hear each other and not see each other. I mostly use Skype and don't have any issues. I've only used Zoom when I took a class.

  11. I haven't tried zoom yet, but my daughter is doing great with it. I did face time for the first time so that was new. ~ Look at the Brady's all ahead of the game :)

  12. It's sounds like you have so much fun when you all get together! I'm loving your sandwich, I always have the "crusts" too (that's what we call them here, I've never heard it called a "heel" before 😀). Sending you Happy T Day wishes! Stay safe and well! Hugs, Jo x

    1. Crust is used for the edges on a regular slice of bread, not the end. And the heel of the bread became a derogatory expression, as in he's such a heel she should dump him. Heel end crust of the bread which very few people like. 😺

  13. I want to begin with the apps. I have no idea how to use them, since all I have is a home computer, not a laptop. Not sure if that matters and if I need to show my face, which I don't want to do. Sorry I'm such a dufus. I know Skype would be the way I would go if I COULD get it on my computer.

Now for your lunch. What fun you ladies must have had meeting virtually. Good of you to be thoughtful and not eat pretzels in front of the others. That sound would have been distracting and caused someone to ask what is going on! Lovely looking meal and I know your tea was just what you wanted. For me, it would have been coffee. Gotta have my caffeine, my drug of choice. Thanks for sharing the funny, the meal, and your tea with us for T this Tuesday, dear CJ.

    1. Apps is just the new lingo for computer programs. You can use the apps on any platform. Except Facetime which is an Apple product iPhone to iPhone and to iPad. You also have the ability to turn your camera off in apps like Skype and Zoom if you don't want to be seen. IF you don't want to be heard, you can also mute your microphone and type your replies which defeats the purpose and you might as well send and email. 😉

  14. Very resourceful, CJ. I'm glad you and the other moms were able to manage this virtual lunch ad had a good time.

Wishing you a healthy and happy T-Day! Eileen xx

  15. I bet you had fun with the other mums, once you were all organized. Did I spy the Brady Bunch?
Your lunch looks like my supper. In England we call it the crust of the bread. In our family people would fight over it. Now it is just my hubby and me, we share it (i.e. half each)
In Holland we would call the end of the bread 'kontje' which means butt.
    Happy T-Day and
    Take care,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  16. I have to laugh at your Brady Bunch photo because that has come up in our school zooming a few times. But it is a good idea to meet virtually. I think these new ways of meeting will stick around and people can meet with others who are not so close, kind of like skype. You might be a trendsetter. Smile. Hope you had a great T day as I am finally able to get around to commenting. Hugs-Erika

    1. I prefer Skype for one on one or a couple of people. Zoom was really meant for classrooms and meetings, but somehow seemed to have grabbed everyone's attention.
