T Stands For Cold Brew

For my birthday gift, I ordered a lovely iced tea pitcher and told Himself he gave it to me. The pitcher is slim and made from borosilicate glass so one can use hot/boiling water to brew tea. I also like the fact that the infuser is in the lid.

The Plum Deluxe Tea Co. had an Earl Grey tea sale in July so I ordered a pineapple Earl Grey blend that I thought would make the perfect glass of iced tea.

Instead of using boiling water, I made iced tea using a cold brew method. Add your loose tea or teabags ( 1 teaspoon or teabag per cups of tea you want to make) and a couple of cups of water.  Let the tea steep 3 to 5 minutes. Then add more water for the total number of cups you want to make. I made 8 cups. Put the pitcher in the fridge or 8 hours or overnight.

After the tea has finished brewing, add ice. Serve over ice and with a slice of lemon or other garnish (orange, mint, etc.)

The pineapple Earl Grey made a very refreshing ice tea especially with the very hot and humid weather we had this Summer.

The Pineapple Earl Grey was perfect iced for the hot Summer days we had. I don't think I would drink this tea hot.

I always thought Coffee Brewed but Tea Steeps.

Your new pitcher is a beautiful shape, and I'm impressed that it's borosilicate. You said the infuser was in the lid, but you put the loose tea in the bottom of the pitcher, not in the infuser. So I'm confused. Sounds delicious.

Glass is not for me (I tend to accidentially break it), but pineapple, hmmmm, yum!

Oh, this comes to late for me - it has cooled down, I´m sitting inside with a sweater!
Anyhows, happy T-Day!

Your new glass pitcher looks good, kind of you to save himself the trouble of buying it! Enjoy your tea. Happy T Day, Valerie

Brewing is the actual process of making tea. Steeping is soaking loose tea leaves or bagged tea in water for a specific amount of time (depending on the time of tea) to extract the maximum flavor.

CJ Kennedy said...

This way, you don't have to strain the tea into another vessel before serving. The lid will catch the tea leaves

Glass is necessary if you are going to brew tea with hot water. I drink iced tea all year long. Cold weather or hot.

Looks pretty! I've tried several types of pitchers with infusers for our iced tea. Didn't like any of them.😟

The flavored tea sounds interesting. I'd definitely try it. I made cold brew tea once. I'm not sure why I only did it once... Happy T Tuesday!

CJ Kennedy said...

I like the pitcher because it's slim. With the ice maker in the refrigerator, there's not a lot of space for large pitchers

It's humid today. One batch of rain came through. Waiting on a second batch with thunderstorms and a cold front. Temps by the weekend will feel very Fall like. 😿

The infuser lid can be a pain in the ( ! ) to clean out loose tea leaves. On the other hand, you can make iced tea with tea bags and they are easy to fish out

The problem with cold brewing is if you want a glass of iced tea right away, you're not going to get it.

What a beautiful tea pitcher you picked out for your birthday. That drink glass looks very familiar. Did you stop by my house and borrow mine (JOKE).

The cold tea sounds good. Not sure pineapple with Earl Grey would be my first choice, but I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for sharing your new pitcher, and your cold brewed tea in a glass like my grandmother's for T this Tuesday, dear CJ.

I've never seen an iced tea pitcher before but I do have a glass teapot that might do the same job if I want to try to make cold brew tea in it. It should take some of the bitterness away. Very nice birthday gift! Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

I remember sometime ago we discovered we had the same glass.

A glass teapot would work, too

It's the perfect size as I'm the only one that drinks tea hot or iced
