Recognized in 1990, the square dance is the official state dance. What? This is something I didn't expect. I associate square dancing with Texas or the Midwest.
Obviously chosen by people who don't know much about dancing. The dance that should have been chosen is The Boston, described as a slow, Americanized version of the waltz.
I didn't know that either, and I can't dance, either! Have a great weekend, Valerie
ReplyDeleteIn college, I had to take a PE elective so I took ballroom dancing.
DeleteYou need to get in contact with the 'powers that be' and inform them of their mistake! 🤣🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteYou think they'll listen? 😺
DeleteWell CJ you and i have the square dance in common as a state dance... seems a little odd for your state...
ReplyDeleteI thought so, too
DeleteMy ex-teamleader T is into that dance, too!
ReplyDeleteNot what I'd expect in Germany, either
DeleteI like the waltz ... not sure about square dancing.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Me, either
DeleteMy sentiments exactly. As soon as I read it, I thought Massachusetts? should be Texas.. So interesting.
ReplyDeleteSo odd for the square dance to be picked
DeleteI remember having to learn the square dance in 4-H. Odd and ironic I actually remember that. Even more odd is that it is your state dance. At least you HAVE a state dance. We barely have a state bird and flower.
ReplyDeleteI think our state legislators don't have much to do
DeleteI remember learning how to square dance in 4th grade. I always thought it oughta be better known. It was fun.
ReplyDeleteWe were taught a Greek dance when I was in 6th or 7th grade. One of the nuns must have been Greek
