Fun Facts About the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Recognized in 1990, the square dance is the official state dance.  What? This is something I didn't expect. I associate square dancing with Texas or the Midwest.

Obviously chosen by people who don't know much about dancing. The dance that should have been chosen is The Boston, described as a slow, Americanized version of the waltz.

  7. I remember having to learn the square dance in 4-H. Odd and ironic I actually remember that. Even more odd is that it is your state dance. At least you HAVE a state dance. We barely have a state bird and flower.
