Autumn color down my street (West)
The hydrangea leaves turned black from the frost
The frost didn't seem to effect the sole clump of blossoms the bush produced.
Golden color deep in the woods
Heavy winds from thunderstorms brought down branches like antler from a giant creature
The week brought a flurry of chickadees to the feeder. One little guy checks things out from the morning glory vine. Can you see him?
When it's all clear, he takes his turn.
Evidently, Corolla likes bird seed. I had just filled the feeder and scattered some seed on the ground.
The little red squirrel stopped by for a visit.
A Nor'easter brought blustery winds and and inch and a half of rain. I'm glad this storm wasn't snow as we would have gotten 15 inches (38 cm) of the (hated) stuff
How does your garden grow?
Rain is ALWAYS better than snow! :D
ReplyDeleteAmen! (except when the rain is so heavy it floods the basement.)
DeleteNice to see your garden and the little visitors. It's freezing here, only my chrysanthemums are doing well. Valerie
ReplyDeleteIt's gotten very chilly the past couple of days. A warm up expected mid-week and the colder again.
DeleteWe haven't seen chickadees in years, but hope springs eternal :) The white-throated sparrows have come back this season, and hearing their sweet song has been a treat.
ReplyDeleteYou Autumn color is nice. I love tree colors in the fall of the year :) We've gotten some few days of steady sprinkles but no storms. It has snowed here in October but not in many years and certainly only rarely. Some years we don't get snow at all.
The Black-capped Chickadee is our state bird. Right now, they are the ones haunting the feeder.
DeleteWe usually don't get snow this early. It has happened. The weather dudes are predicting a mild winter for us. I hope they are right.
Look at that hydrangea!
ReplyDeleteMaybe Corolla thinks it's rabbit seed. Heh.
I love your garden and the critters that visit it.
Happy Sunday.
That was the only blossom on the whole bush! Tons of leaves this year. Ink would be having a field day today. Birds are coming to the bird feeder like it's an airport!
DeleteI lost my hydrangea about a week ago but like you, many our autumn leaves have dropped. The oaks, many which are still hanging on, are turning brown. Your photos could be here and it looks like late autumn. Happy new week. Lots of rain ahead. But maybe a little warmer? Husg-Erika
ReplyDeleteThe oaks in my yard don't drop leaves until Thanksgiving.
DeleteLOL! Corolla is a hoot! Our leaves are just beginning to turn color NOW!
ReplyDeleteCorolla is a cheeky fellow. He'll be the first one out if I toss seed on the ground. He must love the sunflower seeds.
DeleteI really enjoyed your post and photos-we have not seen our bunny for awhile now
ReplyDeleteMaybe he's doing his Fall housekeeping to get ready for hibernation.
DeleteI was looking at the lovely tree colors you shared. I was out and about today and for the first time in many, many years, the trees in my city rival those of the east coast. I've never ever seen such brilliant colors in my own neighborhood. It's amazing. Of course, one day the glory of the trees are blazing yellows, oranges, and reds, the next they are falling on the ground to be swept up or mulched with the mower.
ReplyDeleteYour garden is so happy because it attracts so many wild animals. I never see any like that.
I live in a rural, town. My house is in the middle of the woods. So there are a lot of wild creatures. Deer (which I don't seem to see though I've seen footprints), coyote, fisher cats, bunnies, squirrels, chipmunks, all sorts of birds. Owls, red-tailed hawks. A bobcat. Someone in town spotted a white squirrel, too!
DeleteGreat pictures CJ! I think tomorrow, will be the last day for me to cut the lawn. Time to put the lawn mower away. I love your chickadee and Corolla! Your plants and trees look gorgeous! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYup, time to put the lawn mower away and break out the shovel. Is it July, yet?
DeleteLOL!
