How Does Your Garden Grow?

Heavy winds from the Halloween storm impaled this branch in the ground like a tree.

Japanese Maple leaves and

lots and lots of milkweed fluff

More branches

Time to get out the windshield scraper

Seasonal garden flag

Temperature is BRRRR

The puddle at the end of the driveway froze

The lawn guy cleared all the leaves and

after he left, the Japanese Maple decided to drop her leaves.

How does your garden grow?

  1. It looks very cold and frosty, worse than here. We had ground frost in the night, and it's very cold but the sun has been shining and that makes it bearable! Love the flag. Have a great day, Valerie

    1. We had our first below freezing temps. With the sun shining, that wouldn't be too bad, but the wind made it feel colder. Is is July, yet? 😺

  2. LOL Of COURSE the Japanese maple waited until the lawn guy left! She didn't want anyone to disturb her 'artwork'! ;D

  3. It never fails. You just clean up the garden or the yard, and in comes more leaves, either from your own yard, or blown in from someone else's yard.

That branch in the ground is scary and reminds me of what tornadoes do. It froze like that at my place, too, but no leaves in the water. That was a very different and poignant photo.

Your comment on Camp David will be covered later, after Ike is president. At first, he wanted to get rid of the camp as a presidential retreat, then fell in love with it. He thought Roosevelt's choice to call it Shangri-La was too fancy for a farm boy from Kansas, so he renamed it for his grandson. I'm surprised "The Donald" hasn't renamed or tried to rename it Camp Donald!

Ike, Mamie, and Doud are all buried in the Eisenhower complex in Abilene.

    1. I've never seen a branch blown into the ground that way. Since tornadoes are unusual for my area, I was more fascinated by the phenomenon. But now that you mentioned the tornadoes, I'll have a healthier respect for the power of the wind.

Camp David doesn't sound like it has a golf course so I doubt it would be used.

  4. What a strong wind! Tornadoes do that here.

It's colder there than here, of course, but they're predicting snow for us on Tuesday, too. It'll be interesting to see if we get any.

    1. I think I've heard the S-word tossed around by our weather dudes, too.

  5. You really lost branches. It sounds like this week is going to have some repeats of last week. And it is not January. But it wasn't too bad here this afternoon so I did a bit of raking. It won't last but hopefully it will help when spring ever gets here. Happy new week CJ. Hugs-Erika

    1. Yeah, the big tree is dead and a lot of its branches came down. I have the tree guy coming this week to take it and two more trees down that don't look good.

  6. Great photos of your yard. I do not like seeing that hard frost on the car. (We've had that the past week here in CT.) If you think that 28 is Brrr, just wait until Tuesday night. Ugh. And NOAA can't make up its mind what southern CT will get during the day Tuesday. Right now they're saying possible snow showers during a mostly rain event, but no expected accumulations if we do see the white stuff flying around. Double ugh. (The northern half of the state has a hazardous weather outlook for that day, but the southern half doesn't.)

    1. The weather dudes won't know until the day after what happened 😺 My area is mostly a rain event. We might get a little snow. Since we really haven't had a hard frost yet, the ground is still too warm for the snow to accumulate. I hope!

    2. lol When I saw your comment "The weather dudes won't know until the day after what happened" I actually did laugh out loud. In fact, around here we say a prediction of snow is the best sign we ain't gettin' any ;)

  7. I do like your seasonal garden flag.

The weather here in the UK has been mixed. Either rain, rain and too much rain for some areas that are flooding. Or like it was today Brrrrr … I much prefer to dress up warm when it's Brrrrr and go out for a nice walk!

    All the best Jan

    1. Bundle up, go for a walk, and home to a nice, hot cuppa and maybe a cookie or two.
