T Stands for Gnomevember

Nan treated me to another outing. This time we went to Tower Hill Botanical Garden where they were celebrating Gnomevember.  What is Gnomevember? An annual event where members are asked to donate their garden gnomes. The gnomes are then scattered around the gardens. Visitors grab a score sheet at the information desk and then can make their way to the garden where they count how many gnomes they found.

I’m blogging while using the iPad and had only tested uploading one photo not multiples. Seems iPad  uploaded my photos in random order.

Look carefully can you spot the cardinals?

He sells seashells by the front door

Some bunny wants to be gnome

There were still a few flowers and berries growing at the beginning of November

I wonder what this guy is up to with his can of poison?

The staff was also busy laying out Christmas lights for Tower Hill’s lighting event during the month of December. Tickets sold out by the second or third day they went on sale!

We had a gorgeous day

Besides the gnomes, we also got to see the last days of the fairy house displays

I forgot to take pictures of our beverages and lunch at the cafe, but did manage a picture of this tabby

The Welcome

Biker Gnome

I thought the larger gnome on the right was holding a cup. This was going to be my drink reference, but on closer inspection, he’s holding a water can which the Eldest pointed out to me was a beverage container for plants.

Inside in the tropical garden room, oranges

If the field was a sundial, these guys could be the gnomen

My favorite gnome because of my new, blue shoes

Hidden in plain sight

Help yourself to some goodies

One of the fairy houses

Inside, angel trumpets

You could always grab a drink from the hose like I used to do when I was a kid.

Two friends enjoying the day

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  1. What a fun idea they have for the gnomes. I hope your weather wasn't as bad as they said it might be. Happy T-Day and Happy New Year!

    1. So much fun to find and look at all the gnomes. Over 300 were hidden. I don’t think the storm was as bad for me as north of Worcester.

  2. All the gardens here used to be filled with gnomes - grrrr! In the meantime you mostly find them in allotments. They are not my fave creatures, but sometimes fun. Valerie

  3. This post has gone to the gnomes (grin). There were gazillions of them, in all shapes, sizes, and varieties. Color me impressed. What was the final number you found and what was the overall count? Or did you even play?

I saw two drink references, CJ: the kitty with the mug and the gnome with the watering can. You did GOOD, dear. This was certainly clever and a great way to end 2019. Thanks for sharing these with us for T this Tuesday.

BTW, you just HAD to show me up with your incredible card you sent. The difference between a real artist and a hack!!! I'll let you guess which one I am (and it isn't the artist)!

    1. I was photographing mostly the larger, colored statues and I think I counted 48 of those. I asked at the desk when we were leaving how many gnomes there were and was told over 300.

No, dearie, you have it wrong. The artist comes up with the idea. The hack just copies.

And I always thought these gnomes were a typical German thing!
    The biker one!
A happy T-Day and to a wonderful and fun 2020!

  6. What a very fun day-I would have loved this and would have been smiling all day looking for the gnomes. I used to collect gnomes-my husband even bought gnome sculptures from an artist as gifts for me back then. at the woods home I never had a spot to display them-Here at the lake house they are getting out their boxes for sure.
Happy New Year's Eve and day and Happy T wishes Hugs Kathy

  11. That was delightful, CJ. Gnomevember - what a clever idea. I like Nan's description (rationalization?) of the watering can.

Happy T-day and a very Happy New Year to you and yours! Eileen xx

  13. How fun! I think that would be a great time to visit the botanical garden, even if the plants were on their way out for the season. It is a smart thing to do, and who knew there were so many different gnomes? I hope you had a wonderful T day CJ and had a great New years Eve. Happy 2020. Hugs-Erika

  15. wow - fun to see all these different ones. I had a few at my old house before I sold. I brought one with me. I use to take a particular one whenever we would go visit and stay in a hotel and for fun set it up outside my room if we were on the lower floor with a sliding glass door to the outside and then take pics of it - crazy I know - but I had fun setting the stage for it! I still have it - funny thing is it looks like my dad. This one I have is all gray.

    1. Taking pictures of the gnome while on a trip. Too fun! Like when people “borrow” a gnome and then send it on a world tour taking pictures to send to the original owners. I love it!

  16. What fun!! I wonered how many you counted and then read your aswer to someone else who asked that very question. Wow! That's a lot of gnomes!
I liked the biker gnome and the gnome eating tabby. And of course the two lady gnomes (gnomesses?)
