The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. I made elderberry syrup. Delicious!

2. While I hate the Spring forward and Fall back routine, it's nice that it is light out later.

3. Enjoyed the warm temps and sunshine working out in the yard, but boy howdy,  am I out of shape

4. Saw the first robin of Spring.

5. Went to the store to pick up a few things to make whoopie pies for Pi Day on Saturday. Shoppers in the store were in full blown panic mode. Liquid hand soap and paper towels were wiped off the shelves. Waiting in check out lines was close to an hour.  😱 I don't like the self-checkout, and rarely use them (if I wanted to work at the grocery store I'd get a job there), but did this time as I didn't want to wait that long for a few items.

How was your week?

  1. Hurrah for the first robin of spring. How exciting. None here yet but they should be coming soon. And this rain is better than snow. Take care CJ and take a little bit of that elderberry syrup to keep strong. Hugs-Erika

    1. Hope you see robins soon, and you take care of yourself as well. Has school been closed and classes moving online?

  2. Sounds like spring is on its way, so nice to have warmer temperatures! The supermarkets are the same here, everyone's gone mad stocking up on supplies. Our robins are around all year but our resident robin visited this month which made me so happy that I posted a page today to celebrate ...lol 😉. Happy Friday and Weekend! Hugs, Jo x

  3. I've never seen an elderberry. I think we should just not Fall Back ever again. Let's leave it like this. Congrats on your First Robin of Spring! This store-wide panic is so bizarre. We're used to the milk&bread panic store runs whenever snow is predicted, but this is ridiculous! It makes it quite hard for folks who are just making their regular weekly trip. I'm glad you made it through the madness :)

    1. I'm seriously considering signing up for the online shop and drive up to pick up. I hate to grocery shop and the panic buying isn't helping me like it any better.

  4. I agree about self checkouts! If I wanted to work at Home Depot I would have put in an application! And if I have to check myself out I should get a rebate!
We went shopping to stock up this week too. It wasn't too bad. People don't seem to be in a panic yet and the shelves looked normal.....so far.

    1. Either that or get a 20% off discount like the employees get. I hope it was just the panic after the President's speech and things will return to normal

  6. The first Robin of Spring is always good to see. The stores are crowded here, too, with bare shelves. I'm finding all of this very stressful.

  7. first robin of spring ...we saw ours the other day landing on our railing. I dread today going over to our store in Lake ARrowhead not only is it a tourist attraction over there but finding parking is not easy and can't imagine how crowded the store may be - but we need a few things we get over there. ugh

    1. I'm most likely going to use the grocery store's online shopping service and then to avoid a delivery fee, will just go over and they will load the shopping in the car. There's a designated load parking area. Hopefully, others won't get the same idea. 😺

    2. great idea! Our local one just hired more people because they offer home delivery. They also sent out a message on instagram reassuring everyone that they clean the pin pads, grocery cart handles , etc.... constantly ..they hired more help to do that. This store is family owned and a treasure up here in the mountains.

    3. Sadly, even the online shopping service is overwhelmed and just like in store lots of products not available

  8. Please take care of you and your family!
    No robins here yet!
Maybe this week, I will be able to get outside! Big Hugs!
