The Friday Five Good Things

Heath and me
Five good things that happened this week.

1. Touched base with a friend from high school to see how she was doing. She's an Infection Control Practitioner at Stanford University Hospital. We had a good chat.

2. While Himself was in a Zoom meeting, I thought I'd see if there was something I could watch on Starz, and I found one of my favorite shows, The Big Valley

3. Seeing a rainbow on the kitchen wall made me smile.

4. Got a text from the Eldest that her company decided she could work from home and didn't need to apply for unemployment.

5. Another Dawn Patrol trip to a different store, but I was able to find my beloved King Arthur flour.

How was your week?

  2. Oh, I don´t make it to five things this week, I reckon. Sweet neighbour delivering my goods the last part of the way and giving me fresh chives from his garden sure was very good, though!

  3. Still a bit cold here in the UK, despite the sunshine.

Did you find a pot of gold in the kitchen?

    God bless.

  7. Sounds like a great week! I know what you mean about finding things in food stores, I went shopping for my mum and dad and actually got everything they needed including anti-bacterial handwash, wow I couldn't believe it and they were so pleased. It's funny just waving through the window at them though 😀. Great news about your eldest's job too - yay! Take care and sending happy wishes your way! Hugs, Jo x

    1. I learned through ten years of taking care of my parents (Ma had a stroke and dementia, Dad had Alzheimer’s) that you have to smile at the rainbows and unicorns or the puppy breath will get to you. 😺

  9. glad your daughter can work at home! one of mine was laid off which isn't great right now but the safe thing to do. My week was good - lots of rummicube at night - every night after dinner and I finally got back on my winning streak ... good dinners, and yesterday a glorious fabulous walk over at Lake Arrowhead Village where there was only a handful of people - maybe 6 walking by the water - easy to keep a really big distance. day before - a good ride up the mountain and even though it was high 30's low 40's window down so i could breathe the crisp air and see how the snow landed on the trees and turned to ice crystals - really cold and beautiful but today finally sun is out all day and temps warming up.

  10. Good news for your eldest :) Nice! Rainbows are always welcome. I can't believe things are still sold out -or rather, sold out _again_. People need a good talkin' to ...

    1. I can’t believe the amount of hoarders or where they are storing everything. Karma would be we have a power outage that lasts several days so all the food in their fridge and freezers would be lost. You can’t eat toilet paper! Honestly, people need a whack upside the head with a 2 x 4!

    2. I'm surprised it took stores so long to set limits, and I'm surprised that shelves are still emptying quickly even after limits have been set. I usually go to the store once a week, but I may skip next week entirely. We're up to 275 cases in our county! They're finding more as they do more testing. Lack of testing has been one of the main problems all along.

    3. Greed, maybe? Afterall these large chain stores are seeing record number of sales? Maybe the benefit of the doubt, they didn't expect their shelves to be wiped out. 219 cases in my county. As as testing becomes more available, numbers will go up

    4. Locally grocers are saying if people would quit panic-buying there'd be enough for everyone. They'd rather have steady supply available on the shelves than run out the morning the shelves are stocked. People are so scared they'll buy the limit and time their trips by the delivery truck's arrival, but they're not scared enough to Just Stay Home! *sigh*

  11. I love King Arthur flour. Glad you were able to find it. I needed sugar and got the last bag off the shelf. Things are better but not perfect et, are they? And glad your daughter didn't lose her job. Not a bad week, considering everything going on. Happy start to your weekend.

    1. I’ve only ever used King Arthur flour since I’ve been in my own home. My grandma used it and I figured if it was good for her it would be good enough for me. I thought I would just order if off their website, and they are having shortages, too! 😱

  14. Wow, your week was far better than mine/ Once again, I've been offline due to my internet provider. I can take the stay at home orders, just not NOT being connected to the internet. It sounds like great news for the eldest. So happy for her, too. And, she's safe.
