How Does Your Garden Grow?

Three bunnies having supper.

Morning glories in distress from the heat and the drought. Even thought they are watered daily.

The morning glories in Ink's garden seem to tolerate the weather better

Mini sunflower close to opening

The plant on the left is a weed taller than I am.

Weeds

Amazing that they can grow through the sand, landscaping fabric, and stone

Giant crab grass

While the other potted morning glories are having a tough time, this pot is thriving

A cart full of weeds, 1/6 of the Zensical garden weeded. I lost the shade so done for the day.

How does your garden grow?

  1. Lots of wedding done, well done. My balcony is awful, hardly anything has survived the heat. Have a nice day, Valerie💐🐱

    1. Something must be different this year as I plant the morning glories in the same spot each year and this is the first year with problems. They never seemed to have been bothered by heat or drought before

  3. Bunnies :) We've attracted a larger squirrel to our patio, and it can make leaps only dreamed of by the smaller squirrels lol I've rearranged a bit to see if I can keep him/her off the feeders -there's plenty of food on the ground he/she can have, after all. We shall see.

I look forward to seeing your sunflower in full bloom. I do love sunflowers :)

    1. Hopefully, the sunflower will stay in bloom long enough to get a picture. Apparently, sun flower petals are a favorite treat of the goldfinches

  4. Ugh, weeding.....I feel ya! (Have you tried salt or vinegar in the Zensical garden? It's supposed to be a 'natural' way to kill weeds. As long as you don't want to plant something there in the future. Just an idea.......) ;)

    1. Yeah, I was thinking of trying the bags of salt we use during the winter. It would cost a fortune with the If it rains it pours little girl since the area is so large

  5. My weeds are thriving. Heh. Love that you have one taller than you. Maybe it should be designated as a flower:)
Have a great one. Stay safe.

  6. I hate weeding, so that's why my herbs are now all in pots. Too bad about the morning glories. I've never had any, so have NO idea about their care.

I was reading your comments and I remember that MY winter melting salt is not supposed to harm or kill my grass. I had layer after layer after layer after layer of cardboard and newspapers over the landscaping fabric. NOTHING kept the bermuda grass out of my garden. It found its way through. Once the landscape fabric is torn, the weeds have an open invitation to return. I hope you find a way you don't have to weed so much next year.

    1. Morning glories in the past have been maintenance free.

  7. The drought has done a job on yards right now. I have lots of giant crabgrass too. It seems like that and some ugly weeds that are taking over the lawn are only things growing. Keep your fingers crossed we'll get a little bit of rain.

    1. We've had a some hefty thunderstorms all afternoon. Lots of lightning and nearly an inch of rain. No damage compared to other areas East of us. Hope you made it through the storms ok.

  9. I've weeded by hand and used vinegar on weeds on the path and sidewalk spaces. Also trimmed jasmine vines that keep reaching for anyone who passes by. Too hot now, but I'm satisfied with today's efforts.

  10. Why is it that no matter what the weather brings there are always weeds that thrive!!! Mind you some weeds can look very colourful.

    All the best Jan
