The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. My friend, Al, posted a picture of her radio days for a TBT. She had told me at broadcast school she had to say words and phrases to rid her of her Boston accent. I wrote:  Ahthah's Hahdwheah Stohr in Ahlington (Arthur's Hardware Store in Arlington) on her FB post. She commented:   FB asked me if I wanted your comment translated... from German. FB can't understand a Boston accent. 😺

2. Himself's Brother, Brother's Wife, Brother's Daughter, and her Boyfriend came to help move and assemble Himself's new massage chair. Kind of them to help the Weebles.

3. The Young One and I practiced making the books for the November workshop. So fun to work with her.

4. Since we're semi-retired and not doing as much driving, we down-sized to one car. Toyota RAV4 Hybrid in Midnight Black. I named the car Moose.

5. A cold, rainy, afternoon and a nap called my name.

How was your week?

  1. When I got home from visiting MIT in Cambridge when I was looking for a grad school, I used a stencil and puffy paint to make a tee shirt that read HAHVAHD. It got a lot of comments because both mid-westerners and southerners (ya'all) don't speak Boston.

A hybrid car is always good. Sounds like you and your daughter had a lot of fun together and got some books made, too. It was a pretty good week in your world, I think.

  2. Sounds like a good week. I would like to upgrade my transport - from walking shoes to bike, or perhaps a trike would be better at my age! Valerie

  3. 2/3rds of the kitchen has a back splash AND i like it!

Daughter/Daughter's Husband and Granddaughter are driving from CA to here to spend a month!! Husband a week as he has work to get back to...

Forecasted some much needed rain next week starting tomorrow night..

Hubby sold a bench he made from an old head board and foot board..

I carved out some time to paint on my huge fish painting... felt good..

Congrats on the new car! We only have one vehicle too although its a big ole truck. I grew up in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey area but i must have been south of where that accent starts.. Have you read the Stephen King book Dolores Claiborne? I think he did a mahvelous job with the accent...lol Hugs! deb

    1. A good week for you, too. The accent pretty much starts and ends in Boston. 😺 I read all of King's works, but I don't think I read Dolores Claiborne.

    frische Fische fischt Fischers Fritze."
Sorry, I could not help myself :-)

Yes, we also only have one car now. And I haven´t driven any in three years, a tad... scary.
Good: Hubby now has to take Fridays off and we got loads of Braunschweig stuff yesterday - and half a real pizza is waiting in the fridge, yum.
    To good times!

  7. We have rain today-Saturday- but didn't get much the other day. Oh this rain is so needed. Sounds like a good week. I don't know if I am ready to go down to one car though. I like to be able to get up and go. Moose sounds like a good one though.
