Inside, a tiny pepper
Outside, nuisance snow
There was a cardinal at the feeder, but when I moved the curtain to take the picture through the window, the movement scared him off. A flicker took his place.
Snowbirds were more interested in pecking around the Zensical garden than they were pecking around the bird feeder.
A balmy 49 oF (9.44 oC.) and lots of rain today and
there is still a pile of snow.
This is Walk. We first spotted him walking around the ceiling in the sun room back in the Fall. It's been a warmer than usual month and we found him walking around the kitchen and living room ceilings. Here he is walking along the divider of the double sink in the kitchen (photo cropped so you can't see the dirty dishes in the sink). I carefully scooped Walk into two paper cups and took him outside. He wouldn't leave his cup.
While writing this blog post, I decided to see if I could find out what kind of bug Walk is. Turns out, he's a Stink Bug. I'm glad I didn't crush him or frighten him enough to scent the air with his perfume. I'm also glad I got him out of the house.
How does your garden grow?
You have sharp eyes. Bugs of today are happy as they can overcome winter living in a modern house. I am looking forward to seeing what you will find next.
ReplyDeleteAs long as it isn't a spider. Otherwise, if you hear a loud, high-pitched scream, that's me 😺
DeleteThe stink bug is common around here. He deserves his name, and we are always careful in how we move them.
ReplyDeleteI keep getting FB memories reminding me of years past when we got an inch or two of snow. Ah, memories :)
My potted daffodils are already poking up their green leaves on the patio. I hope they live. Our snowbirds are fun to watch, and I'll miss them come spring. I haven't seen a flicker in years.
We've had an unusually warm Jan. I should go out to see if the tulips and daffs got confused and are starting to bloom.
DeleteWhen you put Walk outside he probably said "I came in to be warm so why do I need to go outside?" Hee-hee. They show up here too. I might even have a whole family in the house. And you have a green pepper growing. How cool is that. Happy Sunday! Enjoy the sun after yesterday's darkness.
ReplyDeleteWe'll see if he finds his way back in.
DeleteGood thing you looked Walk up! I was going to tell you he is a stink bug and be careful!
ReplyDeleteYup, I'm glad I was very careful with him.
DeleteThat was good of you to take Walk outside! Most people would have killed him! They say stink bugs are attracted to lights, so keep your outside lights to a minimal, if you can. I've told you before, I love snowbirds, but sometimes I wonder too, what they eat? I see them pecking around all the time and wonder what they are doing? LOL! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI put Walk out in the backyard. It gets pretty dark out there.
DeleteI've luckily never had a stink bug in my home. Glad you didn't crush him inside (or out for that matter). I LOVE that your husband has a pepper already. Way to go.
ReplyDeleteWe're excited about the pepper, too.
DeleteI'm not a fan of stink hugs either! We got snow today! Valerie
ReplyDeleteSnow. Better you than me. 😉
Delete*LOL* I love stink bugs! OK, not when they stink. I have a lot of them in my garden and I love to watch them. I see you took in your peppers during winter, too. I tried that for the first time and apart from green lice they do very wel. I even got a harvest of small cherry peppers in December. Fun!
ReplyDeleteThe peppers are actually in a hydroponic garden. Himself has a bunch of those Aerogarden lights. He's done well with lettuce and herbs. This is the first time he planted peppers.
DeleteEwwww, a big EWWWW from here, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI´ve never heard of such a bug, ewwww.... and you gave him a name!!! Help!
😺 It's all right. He's outside now where he belongs. I gave him a name because I didn't know what he calls himself. 😺
DeleteWonderful assortment of photos. As soon as I saw that bug, I knew what it was. Ugh! I hate those things!!! Every blue moon (usually in the warm months) I find one of those things terrorizing, I mean walking around the house.
ReplyDeleteWalk seemed pretty innocuous and didn’t cause any trouble, other than staying in a spot that I couldn’t reach
DeleteSo pleased that you got 'walk' outside !!!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Me, too
Deletethis seems like a category i could get into if i still lived at my previous home. I always was gardening or doing things in the yard.
ReplyDeleteHimself really enjoys the Aerogardens. We’ve had delicious lettuce. Now waiting for a new crop to come in and hoping for cherry tomatoes and some green peppers
