The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this year.

1. The joy of Christmas with an adult child. No longer the need to get up at the crack of stupid to check to see if Santa made his visit, ate the cookies, took the carrots for the reindeer, and left presents. Instead a leisurely morning, watching Netflix and sipping tea until the Young One got up mid-morning.

2. Spent the morning with the Young One chatting, laughing, and watching crafting videos.

3. Heard from the Eldest. She finally got the package of stocking stuffers that went around the world

4. Broke tradition this New Year's Eve and instead of watching The Three Stooges or Twilight Zone we watched The Doctor Who Marathon

5. The Young One had been invited to a virtual New Year's Eve games night. She came out of her room to watch the New Year's Eve ball drop with us.

How was your week?

  1. I'm glad you made it until midnight. (Not me, although I was planning on it. Don't even remember falling asleep.) Sounds like a nice Christmas. We recorded the Dr. Who marathon and watched an OK Netflix film. But most importantly, happy new year CJ. Hope yours is a great one. Hugs-Erika

  8. Friday Five Good Things... what a wonderful post! I have adult children who enjoy playing online video games. My big good thing is that I got to spend Christmas Day with my son, daughter-in-law and little grandson who live nearby, because I am in their pod and we are all being cautious. I am looking forward to 2021. Have a happy, healthy, and safe New Year!

  9. Your week sounds nice. My youngest son 37, who lives down the mountain broke his knee before Christmas avoiding a car while on his bike. His surgery still hasn't happened which it should have . Husband has been down the mountain off and on helping out - mostly on - comes home here and there. So it's been very quiet, kind of peaceful with the snow but i would love to get out and get in the car and get off my road- which isn't happening until temps warm up enough to melt a lot of ice off the roads... I'm on the shady side of the lake which is great in summer and a bitch in winter. I can look across to the lake and houses on the other side have melted snow and wouldn't surprise me if people were out barbecuing and dancing around maypoles while I sit here and wait for melt. but i'm not complaining. Can't even be at the hospital when my son has surgery - only one person allowed to wait inside.

    1. So sorry to hear about your son. My house faces North so I know what you mean about everyone else's snow is gone while you still have piles around.

    2. Ahh so you do know what it's like to know that all over town and country the melt has begun ...except where you live. it's a hard thing for me to see, lol... i am totally missing my hikes.

  10. Sounds good :)

I still find it hard to believe we are now in 2021, even though 2020 was not the best of years, it did seem to fly by so quickly.

    Take care, my good wishes.

    All the best Jan

    1. I thought at the start of the pandemic in March things were just going to drag, but it went by so fast. It's a year we won't forget

  11. I had planned to be here yesterday, but my electricity went off early on the 1st. We got SLAMMED with ice and snow, making 2021’s first day seem more like another lousy day in 2020 instead of the start of a new year. From the looks of things, this storm is headed your way, too.

You had a great Christmas from the sound of things. I am glad you got to enjoy it and the Dr. Who marathon. Had to laugh about the eldest's stocking stuffers. Hope your new year was pleasant and low key. Mine was huddled under two blankets with my boys, who helped keep me warm.

    1. Seems like your storm isn't going to be a blockbuster. Weather dudes are saying it's not cold enough for a lot of snow. More like a nuisance of 2-4" or 3-6" depending on which station you listen to. Sunday night into Monday morning by Monday afternoon it will turn to rain. Glad you got your heat and electricity back. What a way to start the new year
