Lettering Composition from Workshop Week

This workshop was called Black and White Lettering Composition with Lisa Chang. For the exercise, she used "Coffee makes everything okayer." I don't drink coffee and the English major in me cringed at "okayer"

I decided on something that does speak to me. Chocolate. "Will work for chocolate" was what I decided to letter using chocolate brown instead of black. I worked in a Canson Mixed Media journal and used Tombow dual brush markers.

The idea was to use different lettering hands or scripts (font is used for typography and not hand lettering) Certain words would be emphasized, colored in or left plain.

  1. I'm with you and the word okeyer. I cringed just writing it. I definitely like your chocolate piece though. Better grammar, better taste. And no cringing.

    1. I didn't participate in workshop week. I just bought the archive so have been doing the workshops at whim. It's a great resource and so glad you told me about it.

  6. I wasn't an English major, but I also cringed when I saw that word. I wonder if anyone else had trouble with that word, too.

I learned something new today I didn't know. Yes, there are lots of things I don't know, but I learned what you created was not FONT, but SCRIPTS. Since I don't letter by hand, fonts are what I use.

Gotta love the piece you created. Looks like lots of us will work for chocolate (which is in a typed font where I'm sitting).
