T Stands For Construction

Hey, Boo! What's going on?
Dunno, but there's a lot of big construction vehicles in the driveway

Ah. The guys are here to install a new set of steps by the post lantern, and a new walkway. The front walk was the first DIY project Himself and I did 30 some odd years ago. For two kids who didn't really know what we were doing, we did a pretty good job of it. The walk held up all that time. The pavers are shifted all higgledy-piggledy now making the walk unsafe. There are so many places to catch a toe or roll an ankle.

Trucks

Digging out the old pavers. New pavers ready to be laid down.

Cute, little forklift

Stairs and walk removed

No room on the truck for the cement footing

The construction crew were really good about trying to save the hydrangea bush and to relocate it out of the way. The hydrangea was a Mother's Day gift from the girlies when they were little. I'm hoping it survives the transplant and the Winter.

Caution cones in place

Looks like another job in the future.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  1. Looks like a lot of hard work, and I hope it will not take as long to do as the hole in our road. Happy T Day! Valerie

  5. I love the brick pattern y'all used in your old walkway. It's great y'all could do a job that was so attractive and long-lasting. May the professionals do as well :)

    1. We did a simple basket weave so we didn't have to cut any of the pavers. The mason is doing an awesome job

  6. OH BOY! PROJECTS! Can't wait to see it finished! (I 'built' the hearth in our house up north. Husband just couldn't master masonry! He was disgruntled about it and predicted it wouldn't last. I used 'unusual' methods....a neighbor told us the new owners had a hell of a time getting it out when they remodeled! LOL)

  8. This is going to look amazing CJ! And I am still jealous. Our walkway was also a project we did 30 years ago and it is also all higglely- pigglely, with a few dangerous bricks in there. And you mug is great. That is a super photo you took holding it and tieing this into T day. Hope yours is going well. I am finally going to step outside for a walk. Maybe not far depending how cold it feels. It was really chilly when I stepped out this AM. And still dark. Enjoy the rest of your day. hugs-Erika

    1. It was very chilly this morning. The heat came on, too! It did warm up a little to spend time in the sun room this afternoon. There won't be many more days for that.

  9. When the trucks arrive I think we all revert to about 3 years old! That looks less stressful than many big projects and I hope it was. Good photos.

  11. That's the difference between a paying customer and a government paid contract. I suspect these guys won't take nearly as long as they would if they were working under a govt. contract. I hope your hydrangea is saved, because it is SO unique with all the different colors.

Love your Hey Boo mug. It's looking a bit Halloween-y too. Thanks for sharing your construction project and your darling tea mug with us for T this Tuesday, dear CJ.

  17. It is better to sit inside with your cuppa than being outside moving tiles isn't it? Like you said, you did it once and did it well so time for someone else to rework it. I have a question, I'm thinking of getting some Japanese ink (sumi?) and brushes. I know I want the liquid ink, not the block. Do you use that ink? Any suggestions?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, I use liquid Sumi ink for most of my work. The brand that is considered the best is MOON PALACE SUMI INKYou can find it at the link for John Neal, Bookseller (In caps) and Paper and Ink Arts also carries it. I buy all my calligraphy supplies from these two companies. Shipping is not free and is based on $$$ amount purchased.

  19. LOVE your mug!
Ha. You "kids" did a better job than many a cheapy contruction worker here. When but 2 years later you have holes and bumps on the way and they keep repairing it all the time... you´d make some money here!

LOL. My Big Niece .... she was 2 and I asked her what she wanted for her 3rd Birthday. "An ant".
Little did I know they call those contruction machines like that. Went and bought her a magnifier with a container underneath and explained she can see the ant real big and close when she catches one.
The look I got. From the whole family.

    Hi, ant, there...

Awww, nice they took care of your Mother´s Day gift!

  21. Oh I like your mug, how fun! There's a lot of work happening at your door, but it certainly is a good idea not to fall over higgedly-piggedly pavers - even though I think they looked really good.

  22. Yay! Love your mug, I do have a 'thing'' about mugs. I've mean meaning to lay a 'proper' path to Hubby's Man Cave, (the Shed) I have the bricks but they've been in a pile for about three years now. I will do it! Will look out to see how yours in getting on. Mine will not be as wide, just enough to get from the house to the ..hem hem...'Office' (as hubby calls it. I'm thinking now, if I had done it last year, maybe I wouldn'r have slipped and fallen! My neighbour gave me a hydrangea push last winter. I bought it a very large pot and its done vwey well! In fact...it turned pink! (the lable that was still on it says its blue! Happy late T day! Stay Safe and thnk you for your visit. ((Lyn))

    1. Hydrangea color can change based on acidity of soil. If the soil is acidic, the color will be blue. It the soil is alkaline, then the color will be pink.

    2. Yes, they are such amazing plants. Aways the first ones in the garden to tell me to get the watering can out!

  23. I hope the work gets done quickly- good idea to replace before there's an accident though. Hydrangeas can stand a lot so hope it's OK. Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
