Nan, her sister, Nish, and I planned a day at Tower Hill Botanic Garden only they have a new name New England Botanic Garden at Tower Hill.
I took a lot of photos so have split the post into two parts. I don't have a proper drink reference for today's post.
Just as I arrived at the parking lot, Nan texted to say she and Nish were waiting at the turtles. Instead of drinking the water, the twin turtles, Castor and Pollux, were having a water spitting contest. Will this do as the drink reference?
This was part of an exhibit called Uprooted. Eleven natural sculptures by artist Gary Smith are scattered throughout the property.
The garden had been closed during the pandemic. The staff used the time to make some changes and improvements like this boardwalk path Nish is following. She had surgery on her leg some months ago and still has some restrictions like only walking on flat, even surfaces. The paved paths were a nice surprise.
Some of the paths were paved with cork, like the material used on tennis courts. Nan had a bottle of water in her bag. Does that count as a drink reference?
I was hoping this little guy had a jug of water or wine. Nope.
Crushed grapes would make a juicy drink
Or a sip of water from this bubbler?
An elusive dragonfly.

I stopped at Tower Hill for a short visit after last week's Mom visit. The new section they built last year was beautifully done. I'm glad you and Nan both introduced me to Tower Hill because I like to do something after my mom visit (on the way home) and it is a beautiful place to stop. Thanks for that. And today's photos are wonderful CJ. I'm glad you and Nan and Nish too had a lovely day out. Happy T day. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteIt's such a beautiful place to visit and always looks different.
DeleteI love botanical gardens, and I hope some day I will get to see this one. My favorites are the one here in Ann Arbor, Longwood in Pennsylvania, Shaw's Garden in St.Louis, and Lotus Land in Montecito, CA. (I saw it years ago, wonder if it's a neighbor of the Royals!)
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
The gardens are so fun to visit because even though the layout is always the same, the gardens look so different from season to season and year to year
DeleteI was in awe of the gardens and how they have improved the walking (and wheelchair accessible?) space. I enjoyed visiting the Uprooted page and saw the names of all the sculptures in the series. These gardens are beautiful and I suspect only a partial bit of what you saw that day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your trip with Nan and Nish to the gardens and all your drink references with us for T this Tuesday, dear CJ. Yes, those spitting frogs count as a drink reference.
We didn't walk the entire acreage because a couple of the trails are more rugged and Nish wasn't up for that.
DeleteWhat a lovely garden! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's such a peaceful place to visit
DeleteWhat a lovely place! I love the willow sculpture and how cool that they added something interesting in the middle of the paving slabs instead of just regular paving. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
ReplyDeleteI loved the meandering bricks, too. I wish we had thought of something like that for our front walk
DeleteYes it's such a lovely idea. Got your comment about the comma in feed me human, I toyed with the idea of adding an S and making it feed me humans for dinner haha

Indeed they did. They created a new ramble garden, a more kid-friendly area

DeleteHello CJ & Himself,
ReplyDeleteBeen following along but unable to reply with googles log in procedure. Thanx for continuing to check in on me even though I haven't dropped a comment in weeks. You know me well enough to know that you haven't hurt my feelings because of my absence lately.
Always enjoy the kitty photos and your crafty little updates. Been thinking about you both with our current weather patterns.
Hopefully you two are well and happy as all get out. Sending positive vibes your way.
Big Hugs,
Cheers
The light is always on in the Ether, and I'm happy whenever you get a chance to visit
