T Stands for Downton Abbey

I love period dramas so was excited to hear about the Downton Abbey movie. This was not a movie Himself would go see with me, and some of my other friends weren't interested, or were going with someone else. Fortunately, there was Nan who was an avid Downton fan. So a week after the movie opened, Nan came down to the theater near me.

First, we had lunch at Panera. A cup of of Autumn Squash Soup and half of a Napa Almond Chicken Salad with an unsweetened ice tea for me.

Nan had the Baja Grain Bowl with Chicken, I think.

Then we saw the movie. For an early afternoon show, the theater had a lot more people in it than I expected. I forgot that Wednesday was discount Senior movie day for people like me 😺  For Downton fans, the movie didn't disappoint. It was like watching an expanded episode of the show. And no surprise, hints for a sequel.

After the movie, we stopped at Barnes and Noble. Nan treated me to a Chai tea

and a cookie. Nan had a coffee and a cookie, too. And since I'm posting 2 1/2 months after our outing, I forget what kind of cookie I had. Maybe it was an oatmeal raisin, or a chocolate chip, or...

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  2. I'm glad you found someone to go see the movie with you. I watched the series later in time, and enjoyed it, but wasn't interested in seeing the movie. Merry Christmas and Happy T-Day!

    1. The movie was good, more like a double episode than a movie

  3. This sounds like a fantastic day out. I dragged my husband to the film, but he actually liked it. Panera has great lunches, doesn't it? And you can't beat a visit to Barnes and Noble for any reason. Wishing you a very happy T day CJ and even more so, a very Merry Christmas also. Hugs-Erika

    1. I like going to Panera for breakfast or lunch. They don’t rush you and don’t care how long you stay.

  5. Looks interesting. I haven't watched the PBS show but I might have to see the movie if only for the best line in a movie I've heard in a long time, "I don't argue, I EXPLAIN!" LOL ;)

    1. The Dowager Duchess is one of the best characters and Maggie Smith plays her so well

  6. Although I'm a huge supporter of my public broadcasting station, I have never seen a single episode of Downton Abby. Strange, too, since I'm half British. By the time I learned about it (I watched something else on Sunday night), it had been on for three seasons. I know I could have binged on it using my Passport, but somehow, I just never did. I'm glad you enjoyed the movie and it was a feel good movie for you.

That soup sounds wonderful. Sally and I have eaten at Panera a couple of times, but I thought they were a bit pricey. I'm glad you enjoyed your meal because it looks delicious. And the cookie and tea after the film sounds like the perfect end to a perfect day. Thanks for sharing your two teas and Nan's coffee with us for T this Tuesday. Merry Christmas, dear.

  14. I have only recently started to watch Downton Abbey. I get Amazon Prime and I watch it on my tablet.I have now finished season 1 and I love it!
Mr Baines has just left, blackmailed by his wife, and WW1 has just started.
Looking at the trailer for the film, they have used the same actors. Is there a new story-line or is it the same story line condensed in a feature length film?
I am in Holland now and I have looked at the cinema line up but it is no longer being shown. (We ca't go to the cinema in Spain, as all the fims are dubbed into Spanish).
Wishing you a Happy holiday and happy (belated) T-Day.
    Hugs,
    Lisca

    1. The story goes from the sinking of the Titanic through the 1920s and follows the Crawley family as well as the servants. Lots of characters, lots of story lines. The movie picks up with some of the characters, answers some of the what happened after the last season episode, and hints at things to come. I have heard because the movie was so popular, a sequel is being planned.
