How Does Your Garden Grow?

Rain and heavy winds blew the lid off the front birdfeeder

Snow it begins. The first major storm of the season arrived with soaking rains that turned to heavy, wet snowflakes. Snowbirds flocked to the feeder in droves.

The Nutcracker and the Advent Tree. Happy St. Nickolas Day!

The young people came before dawn to clear the driveway. They even cleaned off the car! Hard to tell how much snow we got. Looks like 4 to 6 inches of heavy, wet snow. It doesn't look like we got as much as the weather dudes were saying. I think they got over excited about this first storm and over estimated snow totals. Towards the end of the storm, the snow must have changed over to rain. Driveway, walkway are very icy.

The new mailbox survived the plow!

The baskets were going to be put in the window boxes, but they really couldn't be seen from the street.

    1. It's only pretty on a Christmas card. I need a Grinch emoji

  2. Our plow man moved north in NH to Colebrook. His son called and asked if we wanted him to take over, and we said yes, but no sign of the son today. Luckily the hubby bought a new snow blower just this past Thursday. I think he actually likes to do this, especially when it is not at night after work. I guess winter is now here. Stay warm and dry CJ. Hugs-Erika

    1. Hopefully, the first and last storm. We're supposed to have a mild Winter this year, because it's a La Nina year and there wasn't much snow in Siberia in October.

    1. Yup, home is a good place to be when the weather gets iffy.

  4. That's a strong wind! The snow sounds exciting to me, but we're getting highs in the 50s so don't have to deal with it in person.

    1. This was heavy wet snow so even a few inches is back-breaking work with a shovel. I'm glad we hired young people to deal with it. I'll take your 50s

  5. It's very festive with your home all decked out for the Christmas season, CJ. Even your car looks festive. It's starting to look like a very white Christmas where you live.

Here it's just bland and brown.

    1. The bow on the car is a photoshopped bow to cover up the license plate. The 10 day forecast calls for temps in the mid-40s so hopefully by the end of the week, the snow will be a distant memory.

    1. It's not as much snow as the weather dudes predicted. That was a relief

  8. Lots of snow - and the young ones cleaning the driveway for you - that's a plus for sure! We were predicted to have heavy winds here but we didn't...and now sometime during December it is prediced there could even be snow as low as Los Angeles (Just one guy is predicting this but he is accurate a lot of the time). If LA gets it, can't imagine what it will be like for us. Hope that doesn't happen. I enjoyed your garden views and December's flag flapping in the wind.

    1. Wow! Snow in LA. I don't think I ever heard that it snowed in LA. I hope the weather dude is wrong!

  9. I know that you don't like the snow but it looks so pretty ...lol 😀. Nice that the snowfall is later in the season this year too, I have known it snow there in late October. Take care and stay warm! Hugs, Jo x

    1. October/Nov. is early for it to snow here. Snow in Dec./Jan. is seasonal. Our bigger snowstorms tend to come in Feb./March. This is supposed to be a mild Winter. I'm hoping the weather dudes are right.

  10. I love that nutcracker. Great photos, even though I hate snow. I wonder how each of our yards will look Thursday afternoon. :-(
