Last week, Elizabeth had a pretty tea service for her post and another Tea Lady in an earlier post had mentioned making a decoction with sliced ginger and hot water. I'm so sorry I can't remember the name of the Ginger Tea Lady and I can't find a past post. When Bastelmania goes to her favorite cafes for her cappuccino, there's always a little goodie served alongside.
These ladies inspired me to treat my self like company, to try a decoction of ginger tea, and to pretend I was visiting a cafe for a cuppa
Setting the tea table was easy, but making ginger tea when there was no ginger root available was a little harder. I had some ginger taffy-like candy so I tossed a piece into hot water and let it melt. The candy is more spicy than sweet so it made a really nice tea. A lemon cookie along side added to the illusion of sitting in a nice cafe. Okay, it was really more like a little girl playing with her tea set, but I can pretend with the best of them.
Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.
I love that cat!
ReplyDeleteThe cat candy dish is really a Halloween decoration but is out all year long usually in the studio
DeleteDreaming of cafés and nicely served cups of hot beverages is a great way to spend such a cold, snowed-in, locked-down day! Will spring come and make us free? I hope so.

I'm hoping for Summer weather as Spring in New England can still be cold and wet with not as much snow. But, yes, which ever season bring warm, dry weather first.
DeleteI love the idea of being like a girl and playing with her tea set. That is fun. It brought back memories of a play coffeepot I had when I was about 4 and how I was taken by my dad to downtown Worcester (back in the day when downtown had all the big stores on Main St) after drinking too many cups of pretend coffee. When I needed to use the potty, he had some issues as he didn't want to take me into the men's room. I remember that event clearly. But I digress. I love the tea set up, and the ginger tea sounds good. I don't remember the post, but I might have to try that too. Your table is pretty and I like the cat bowl with Hershey kisses(?) in it. That is cute. It's icing here right now. Not too much snow. Hope yours has gone to all rain. Have a great T day on this dreary weather one. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteYour poor dad. Did he ask some lady to help you out? Back in the days when people were kind and we didn't worry about untoward things happening?
DeleteThe cat bowl is filled with Hershey Kisses. My favorites as my dad would bring home a bag for us as a treat. Only he called them Silver Bells.
We got all rain, but because the ground was so cold everything froze. Temps got up to the high 30 by mid-day so everything is just wet until the temps. drop tonight. Not looking forward to the next storm for Thurs.
We need to spend more time -as we're all locked in- treating ourselves like company and enjoying moments like these. I can be just as good at tea parties now as I was when I was little or when the kids were little :)
ReplyDeleteHappy T Tuesday! and thanks for the inspiration :)
You're welcome.
DeleteLove gin-gins. Happy t day.
ReplyDeleteThey were an impulse buy. Really good, too.
DeletePlaying with a tea set isn't pretending, it's practicing! :D
ReplyDelete😺 I stand corrected
DeleteLove your cafe visit at home, great idea, I can't wait to go to cafes again! Happy T Day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to tag along on your cafe visits.
DeleteWhat fun!
ReplyDeleteGood job on the ginger tea.
The ginger tea turned out to be really delicious. Not tasting overly sweet like candy.
DeleteOh, I love what you did. A great way to use your imagination. your setting looks lovely and elegant!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
Though I'd rather use the good stuff when company comes, it was nice to use the good stuff instead of letting it sit in the cupboard collecting dust
DeleteI LOVE how your set matches. Even the tea caddy matches. How awesome is that. This was a joy to read and a fun post to share with us for T this Tuesday. I would LOVE to share a fun childhood tea party with you someday, too, dear CJ.
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun to sit on your front porch to have a tea party.
DeleteYou are welcome anytime. Let me know and I'll even have the guest bedroom ready for an overnight stay.
DeleteWhat a fabulous idea, I love ginger so will happily join you for a cuppa 😁. Lemon goes so well with ginger too so the cookie sounds yummy too ...lol! Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteThe lemon cookie was just the right amount of sweet to go with the ginger

ReplyDeleteI wasn’t sure about using the candy, but the tea turned out quite well
DeleteThat must have been fun, feeling like a little girl with a T party. that made me smile.
ReplyDeleteHaving a tea party for one was a nice change of pace
DeleteWhat wonderful setting and a such a great idea! Oh for the days when cafes open again. I said the other day that we shall know when this is over when the supermarket we visit opens their cafe and we can have a coffee halfway through our shopping!! Now, where's my Mum's old teaset? Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteSomething to look forward to. 😊
DeleteBrilliant.
ReplyDeleteI am so looking forward to enjoying a cuppa in a café/restaurant as soon as lockdown restrictions are lifted.
All the best Jan
Himself gave me a gift card to a favorite restaurant. I can't wait for the warm weather to eat outside on the terrace as the sunsets there are magnificent
