The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. The Young One sent a nice picture of herself in a cute shirt with cats.

2. We had been hoping for a typical New England Saturday night supper, hot dogs with brown bread. Since Memorial Day (end of May) Himself wasn't able to find brown bread. All the store managers told him it was backordered. He finally found some at Walmart.

3.I had a no-hassle shoe return using Happy Returns at Ulta and an Amazon return at Kohl's.

4. I bought an Apple Lightning Adapter so I could return the one on loan from the WAM IT Department.

5. This week was the last class until the Fall. We had fun doing some faux gilding.

How was your week?

  1. My week has been good. Yours does too. I haven't had a New England Saturday night hot dog dinner in ages. Did you used to have them every Saturday night also? Think it's time for some brown bread too. I was thinking about it the other day. Enjoy this day. Is it a bit too chilly for you?

    1. Yes, my dad liked the Saturday night hot dog dinner. You have that nice recipe to make brown bread muffins, too. I didn't have the rye or whole wheat flours on hand or I might have baked them. The weather is nice though I don't mind the humidity

  3. The highlight of my week was an Amazon delivery! (A 16ft charging cord for my iPad so I can sit comfortably in the living room while I 'create'! LOL)

  4. I didn't know about New England Brown Bread before, so I googled it to find out more. I found a recipe that sounds good and simple. That means if you ever have trouble finding brown bread, you can maybe make it yourself: https://www.bowlofdelicious.com/brown-bread/
    All the best, Traude

    1. Easy as long as you keep wheat flour and rye flour on hand, which I usually don't have

  5. Ooh, I love Ulta! When you say brown bread, do you mean wheat bread or is that something else?

    1. New England Brown Bread is a combination of wheat flour and rye, sweetened with brown sugar and molasses. Traditionally baked in a tin can. The size of a large baked bean can.

  7. New England brown bread sounds interesting. I like hot dogs, but we don't often have them - once a year or so.

    1. We don't eat hot dogs much either. I prefer hamburgers, but every once in a while there's a craving

My week has been odd, with at least one social thing scheduled every day. So strange!

    1. PA and NJ aren't New England so that's probably why you never heard of it. It's a real regional thing
