The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. Took an online class on how to teach calligraphy on Zoom

2. Had my annual eye exam. I didn't need a new prescription (like I've had to get a new prescription each yer for the past 4 years) or a seeing eye dog!

3. Had a nice long chat with an old, high school friend from California

4.  While hanging out in the sunroom, we were able to hook up the little laptop to the television to watch Amazon Prime. We're currently watching DaVinci's Demons

5.  The little laptop doesn't have a fast enough processor to run the document camera during a Zoom meeting/class, so Himself order me a new laptop as an early birthday present.

How was your week?

  1. Sounds like a good week. Glad your eyes are okay. I have an eye OP scheduled for next week to remove some scar-tissue from previous Ops, not looking forward to it! Have a good weekend, Valerie

  3. Holy cow. I don't even have ONE laptop, and you are getting one just to teach a class. You really ARE a princess, dear CJ. Lucky you!

  4. Sounds great, I really should try to focus on this, too!
I once noted three good things per day, if it "only" was a smile from a stranger I got.
For some time I had a couple of (real, small) marbles in one pocket. And over the day with everything positive I put one from left pocket to right pocket. Then summer started and I ran out of pockets - lame excuse!

    1. The Friday Five use to be a list of five things I liked: books, music, stuff like that. Then just before New Year, a friend mentioned a good things jar,. Your put a slip of paper in the jar with one good thing that happened that day. At the end of the year, on New Year's Eve, you read all the good things. I liked that especially as at the time things were difficult for me. I was taking care of both my elderly parents (Ma with a stroke and dementia, Dad with Alzheimer's), plus my own girlies. Sometimes it was hard to see a good thing and I was becoming very negative. So that's how the Friday Five Good Things came about. Having all those little slips of paper would drive me crazy so first I kept a diary, and now keep an online diary.

    1. It was a good chat. As her area is blowing up with Covid and she's an infection control specialist at a big hospital, I've been worried about her.

  8. My week was fine other than for the fact that we have a new computer and have upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and while it has gone smoothly for the most part, we are unable to continue to use Picasa for photo editing and we are having a hard time figuring out the alternative recommended to us.

    1. Supposedly, you can edit with Google Photos. I use Corel's Paint Shop Pro. They are on version 20. I started with version 7. I like Corel, because you can try before you buy. It's not that expensive so you buy and own it rather than paying a monthly fee.

    1. I was nervous going for the eye exam, but all the worry before hand was silly. Was given a mask, even though I had one and a squirt of hand sanitizer as I entered the building. Hardly anyone in the building. There were only 2 of us in the waiting room and far enough away from each other. The eye doc kept her distance and she was masked. Most of the exam was done from the eye chart. She didn't put the better or worse machine in front of me, but stood to the side and manually held the lens in front of me. Easy peasy
