T Stands For A Trip to The Outback

A back to normal event for us. Planning an errand or appointment around lunch or dinner. I needed a paper shredder so we decided to stop at Staples and then head over to the Outback next door for a late lunch. It would give us a chance to use a gift card we had.

The Outback is a kitchy Australian themed restaurant. With food items named after Australian cities or Aussie expressions.

My beverage was an Aussie Palmer, the Outback version of an Arnold Palmer which is half iced tea and half lemonade. Whatever you call it, it's like Summertime in a glass.

Meals at the Outback include a little loaf of sweet bread flavored with molasses. Himself had a Coke as his beverage.

We had a shrimp fest! Starting with Bloomin' Fried Shrimp. Addictive little bites with a kick

My favorite at the Outback is their Coconut Shrimp appetizer. They are now offering Coconut or Grilled Shrimp paired with a sirloin steak. I had a baked sweet potato and a side salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

Himself had a porterhouse steak, grilled shrimp on the barbie, and a side salad with ranch dressing.

For dessert, I was hoping the restaurant had the Aussie-Some dessert served on a boomerang, but that wasn't on the menu. Instead we shared the new Thunder and Lightning Dessert, the Chocolate Thunder Down Under Brownie, ice cream, and chocolate sauce paired with a piece of Vanilla Butter Cake and strawberries. It was half-eaten before I remembered I didn't take a picture. So I grabbed the picture from the menu.

We had lots of food to take home for lunch, dinner, and dessert the following day and no cooking for me!

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth’s blog to find out what the rest of the T gang is up to. If you want to play, include a beverage or beverage container in your post. Don’t forget to link your blog from Bleubeard and Elizabeth’s page.

  3. You had a huge but delicious sounding lunch CJ. I love coconut shrimp and haven't had it in ages. We don't have any outbacks left around my area; they all went out. But your lunch looks yummy! Have a great T day and stay dry until we see the sun. hugs-Erika

    1. Nope, onion is an IBS trigger for me, but the shrimp appetizer was prepared just like the Bloomin' Onion except no onion!

    1. I always associate Outback with a steakhouse so I don't think of them serving pasta. On the menu, they did have fettuccini in a parmesan cream sauce. For extra $ you could add shrimp or chicken. Yeah, I like their food.

  9. Never been to Outback though there is one in our area. The coconut shrimp especially has me thinking about trying it out now:). Wonderful looking food, and isn't it great when a huge meal carries over to another day.... happy T day!

    1. The coconut shrimp is one of the appetizers. I would sometimes order the coconut shrimp and ask them to bring me the shrimp and a house salad as my entree. Now they are offering the coconut shrimp as an add on to steak. Either way, soooo goood

  11. We really like the Outback. It is so far away from us that we don't go there very often. Plus with covid the last few years. I don't even know if it is still open. The food looks so good. Have a nice day.

    1. A few of the Outback restaurants around us closed pre-Covid. This one is still going. We did a take-out from them last year during Covid

    1. Thank Heavens there's no Vegemite on the menu. It tastes like axel grease. I tried it when you sent all the little tubs Up Over for the Young One's Holidays Around the World when she was in 3rd grade. Do you remember how you told me to put the spread very thickly on the cracker for the teacher? And we made her eat it! The expression on her face priceless! 😆

    2. Yes, I do remember that, I have the photo somewhere, of the young one and the teacher comments. I will have to find it. Very funny. Grinning now. Ha.

    3. I'd love to see it if you have it. Some of my photos got ruined when the basement flooded.

  16. I love how you described your Aussie Palmer. Sunshine indeed. Never been to an Outback and not sure if we have one. Sharon would probably know, though.

I had coconut shrimp at a Chinese buffet once. It was good, but I would eat shrimp any way, any day. Looks like you enjoyed the meal and had leftovers, too. Thanks for taking us to Outback and sharing your drinks with us for T this Tuesday, dear CJ.

  17. Yum! All of it looks and sounds wonderful, CJ. I love going to Outback but haven't been in a very long time. It has been fun going out to eat more often - a little back to normal. I am looking forward to when we really are back to normal of course, we may not be able to afford to go out to eat with the way prices have risen!

Happy T-day and thanks for sharing this fun food adventure with us. Hugz

  21. Good ole crocodile dundee, thanks to him everyone wants to throw another shrimp on the barbie don't they lol. I have never been to one of these as I feared I would be disappointed or too homesick or both, but it does look good, and I love that dessert on a boomerang (I clicked through to see it). Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx

  22. that looks delicious. It's been years since I've been to an OUtback. I believe that was in the days I loved Long Island Ice Teas and I always got some kind of pasta dish. I was never much into meat, steak, etc.
