T Stands for Droughtlander

Droughtlander the time between the last episodes of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series on Starz and the first episode of the new season. Season 5 finished in April. What's a fan to do while waiting for the 9th book in the series Go Tell It to the Bees and Season 6 on Starz?

My friend, Red, texted me to ask if I had read Gabaldon's Lord John and the Hand of Devils. Lord John Grey is one of the major characters in the Outlander series and Gabaldon has written a series of novellas with Lord John as the hero. Hand of Devils is a collection of the first three novellas: Lord John and the Hellfire Club, Lord John and the Succubus, and Lord John and the Haunted Soldier. Red said she had an extra book if I wanted it. She dropped the book off in my front porch with a nice note written on notepaper with a lighthouse. The note will make an excellent bookmark.

So I'm all set with my comfy chair, book, and cup of tea. If you're an Outlander fan, what are you doing during Droughtlander?

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

  3. "Droughtlander" is an unfamiliar concept to me, but I don't care for Outlander. A cup of tea and a book sounds good, though. Happy T Tuesday!

  4. I love her books-and when I was buying them last year I also bought all the Lord John books. In yesterday's mail I was delighted to receive the book 2 Outlander cookbook. I loved the first book so pre ordered the second. They are gorgeous books to just look at and read but there are some really good recipes in them too. So I will be reading that and getting back to reading the book that this seasons episodes were based on. I was hoping to get these read before her next book comes out-but her books are so detailed I read them slower and then need a break before the next one. I also subscribe to lots of things on Outlander on fb so I can get a daily fix that way too lol I actually started reading the books first and then caught up watching them before this years started. Love the show-attention to detail is impressive and love the actors Happy t wishes Kathy

    1. Her books are amazing so much detail and the different story threads. The producers of the Starz series have remained so true to the books, of course it helps that Gabaldon is also an advisor for the series. The casting has been fantastic, too

    2. I agree the casting is perfect for her characters. they have done a good job of staying pretty close to the books. I saw an interview on fb that they said that this was more different than the book-Firey Cross that's the one I am getting into reading now

    3. There were some things that I didn’t remember, but it’s been so many years since I read the early books. I read the first 5 books twice through. I probably should go back and start the entire series

  5. Not familiar with either of these but it's always a joy to have a good book to read:) Happy T daY!

    1. I like Lord John. I’ve only read Lord John and The Scottish Prisoner which is one of the later books of this series. It will be good to read the beginning stories

    1. The Outlander series will celebrate 30 years next year. There are 8 books to the series and the author, Diana Gabaldon is working on the 9th. If you like long books and a book that is a historical romance, sci-fi time travel, you'll enjoy the series.

  10. I know absolutely NOTHING about Outlander, so this sort of went over my head. However, I'm glad you are enjoying the new book Red dropped off for you. Thanks for sharing your book and your tea with us for T this Tuesday.

  11. I didn't want to add this to the T post, but I wanted to tell you I never close my mini blinds. I love looking at who is walking their dog or driving by. My street is really busy because it is one of few that goes through most of the neighborhood. Other streets zig and zag or look like a wheel spoke on a map. It may sound like a good idea to you, but I don't mind prying eyes. I love looking out my windows and seeing the open neighborhood. If I don't want to be seen, I'll go to my back patio, where there's plenty of privacy and privacy fences, too. Out front, I want to be seen and see everything. It's just who I am. And it's why I abhor that fence the neighbor put up. I may pay to have a surveyor come out and see if it's on my property. He definitely didn't have it surveyed, just started drilling holes.

    1. The Leaf Lady just put up her fence right on the property line. When I went to town hall to complain, I was told it was customary to put the fence. 3 ft. behind the property line so if you had to maintain the fence you would be on your own side and not your neighbor's. It wasn't mandatory. The fence has been a good thing. The Leaf Lady has never been very neighborly. I hope your neighbor is more considerate and didn't put the fence on your property.

  12. I like the character Lord John but not enough to read a series about him.. I like him in his supporting role.. I've read all the books and anxiously waiting the next... I've watched Season 1 on DVD but have not gotten a hold of the rest as i don't get Starz and a whole season on DVD is rather expensive at $40 i think.. I keep hoping i'll get the next season for xmas or something...lol Hugs! deb

  13. I have read all the Lord John books so I have had to go looking for something else to read. A couple of suggestions have been two series, one by Juliet Gauvin, her Irish Heart collection, quick reads, an Irish Chick Lit book is the best way to describe it and now I am waiting for book 5 to come out in October and the other series is by Jodi Taylor, currently reading book one, Just One Damn Thing After Another. It is holding my interest so that's a good thing!

    1. Sam Heughan is supposed to be on Good Morning, America Wed. June 10. They didn't have a time he would be on so you'd have to watch the whole show.

  16. The books sound a good read, but I have to admit to not reading any of them, I don't think they are readily available in the UK, perhaps I should look when we are allowed out again.
Stay safe and happy T day wishes.

    1. If you're reading the books, it's a long series. There are 8 very loooong books to read and the 9th coming out "soon". Easier to watch the series. They stayed true to the books with a few changes.

  19. Outlander - have heard so many great things about it! Think I will finally give it a try. Thanks:)
