The Friday Five Good Things

Five good things that happened this week.

1. When I went to use the Roberson's Gold size to do some gilding, the goop smelled like vinegar. I wasn't sure if it had gone bad. I did a test patch and the gold stuck to the glue so I guess it's still ok to use

2. Pulled weeds as big as trees around the  min-split condenser.

3. Enjoyed Carol DuBosch's online class in Bone Script

4. My birthday ended the month long birthday celebrations with an early, morning greeting on Facebook from the Young One, take out lobster rolls from The 99, a rain gauge for the weather station, a private blend of tea from the Eldest, and Key Lime Pie

 5. The recipients of the T Day Give Away are: Elizabeth, Cyndi, and Jo. Congratulations! And thank you all for playing.

Jo, will you please email me your snail address?

Happy Mail

Elizabeth and Bleubeard kindly sent me the ATC, Cat in a Teacup, celebrating the 7th anniversary of the Tuesday Tea  Parties. I love it.

Even though I didn't participate in the exchange, Elizabeth also included some ephemera to use in future art projects. She sent a colorful napkin, 2 ticket (which might be used for my entry into 2 future T Day posts  😺), a musical note, A (two notes below middle C), an 8 of Cups Tarot card, a postcard of the Palacio de Gobierno (State Capitol Building) in Chihuahua, Mexico, and a flash card.

The flashcard made me laugh as it brought back memories  of Ma drumming the multiplication tables in my head. She took the flashcards with her when we went to visit Grandma (her mother) in East Boston. Ma and I sat in the back seat of the green Studebaker Dad drove.  The Brother got to ride shotgun. All the way through the endless miles (ok, it's not quite a mile long but with the flash cards it felt like forever) of the Callahan Tunnel (East Boston is an island and the tunnel runs underneath Boston Hahbah ), she'd hold up a flash card What's 9 times 1? 😺

Thank you, Elizabeth and Bleubeard for thinking of me. Your package was a complete surprise.

T Stands for A Give Away

Studio cleaning is a never-ending cycle, a  realization that I have too much sh stuff. So I've pulled out supplies enough to fill two of the large priority mail boxes. The boxes are filled with gently used items. Some items have never been used and are still in their packaging.

I hate to throw the stuff away as the pastels, rubber stamps, watercolors, punches, embellishments are still in good shape. Some of these items were bought for workshops and used only once. Or not at all. Some were samples in goodie bags during open houses at the museum. Some were, I thought I'd  use it some day, but that day never arrived.

I'm hoping you can help me out. I'll raffle off both boxes, plus a small box for those outside the US. Just let me know in the comments if you want to enter the raffle. The 3 new recipients will be announced on Friday.

And since this is a T Day post, my drink reference is the tiny set of tea and coffee themed rubber stamps in the above photograph.

By the way, I can't guarantee which box of items you will get. The other boxes are filled with equally wonderful things.

Drop by hosts, Bleubeard and Elizabeth's blog to find out what the rest of the T Stands For gang is up to. If you want to play, include in your Tuesday post a beverage or container for a beverage. Don't forget to link your blog to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's page.

Saturday Afternoon at the Movies

This idea came from a Facebook meme:
Over 10 days, post your 10 all time favorite films. What movie has really made an impact on you or what films can you watch over and over and never tire of? Post either the movie poster, DVD cover or even a screenshot on your timeline. No need to explain.

Only I had a hard time picking out just 10 movies so my favorites over the next few hundred Saturdays 😸 in semi-alphabetical order:me favorite films. Gamer Gift Box and Card

The Young One celebrated her birthday this week. She's a Gamer so when I saw the die shaped box on the Canvas Workspace I knew that would be perfect for her with the dots in her favorite color, red.

I thought a card shaped like a gamer controller would be perfect, and I found a free cut file. It wasn't in the correct file format for the Scan n Cut. What to do?

Fortunately, Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, a paid spokesperson for the Brother Scan n Cut machine, had a tutorial on how to convert  images to the correct  file type  the Scan n Cut uses.

The card needed an inside and a sentiment. So I duplicated the shape and cut out the text Happy Level. The 28 were number stickers I had in my stash and fortunately the Young One's favorite color.

The Young One was almost as pleased with the gift box and card as she was with the gift. A little thing, but it made me happy, too, after going through the effort.

T Stands for Happy Mail

Kathy in the Ozarks sent an illuminated, perpetual calendar book with illuminated, manuscript pages illustrating the life and occupations of women during the Middle Ages. The book is a welcome addition to my library and will be a source of medieval motifs in my work.

Kathy also included this delightful, small, pamphlet stitched book withe some watercolor paintings

And since this is Tuesday and a beverage reference is needed, I found this illustration from the book. The reference states the illumination is "Drawing Vinegar from a Keg". I think this wasn't translated correctly. The woman is filling her pitcher with wine. Since this is for our tea party, let's say she's making sangria.

Garden Kite

A garden kite for a friend going through a tough time. I was at a loss as to what to write on it. After I mailed it, I realized I should have used The Beatles song, "Mother Mary comes to me. Speaking words of wisdom. Let it be." Oh well, next time.

Which Would You Choose?

On Facebook my town library asked, if you had to be trapped in a children's book for a month, which one would you choose? I would choose:

If you're not familiar with the story, armed with his purple crayon, Harold is a little boy who draws his way in and out of trouble while trying to find his way home.
