How Does Your Garden Grow?

Brilliant sunset

A young cardinal on the lawn

Pl@ntNet identifies this plant as either Bitter Lettuce or Common Evening Primrose. Many years ago, I had planted primroses along the edges of the front walk so I could lead people down the primrose path. This plant doesn't look like those primroses.

Hello, Mr. Slug

Moving the potato plants to the greenhouse.

Hello, Handsome.

How does your garden grow?

  1. It´s still too cold to plant anything here... but a very happy hello to Handsome!

    1. Still too cold to plant here, too. Threat of frost goes until the middle of May. Himself started his plants in the basement. Some plants are being moved to the greenhouse to harden them up

  2. Your husband must be having lots of fun starting his garden. The plants are looking great. And I have those plants here. They grow yellow flowers from them if I leave them, and the flowers are much taller than a cultivated primrose is. I believe they might be a wild primrose though. Isn't great everything is greening up? Stay dry and have a nice Sunday. hugs-Erika

    1. It's really good to see the green, but I think we've had enough rain.

  3. My seeds are sprouting but aren't big enough yet to remove the protective screens. It's a bright, sunny day today even though it's still much cooler than usual. It's good to see sunshine!

  7. Your garden is just Wonderful CJ ! All your plants are growing well, and birdy too. My son wants to get an avocado tree, he has tried it several times already, but let´s see if he succeeds with this last seed.
Have a great Monday, big hugs, Caty

  9. I HATE slugs. They and meal worms are the worst things in a veggie garden. I just realized I have to buy new pots and potting soil for all the herbs I purchased.

Your husband's plants are looking good. I tried to grow cilantro from seed over the winter. It goes gangbusters in summer, but it did NOTHING this winter. I just wasted my seeds I purchased.

You have a head start on your veggie garden. I guess it's actually your husband's since the little princess only wants flowers.

I admit your garden is growing better than mine right now. However, we FINALLY got a bit of rain this week. Liquid gold.

  10. Your cats always look like statues when they're staring at you in the window. And I have a few of those plants that you showed. I'm wondering if they're the plant that grows tall and has yellow flowers on it. (I don't know the name of it, but I had sprinkled some seeds from it where I see some growing. But it's random, what years they decide to grow, and what years they don't.)

    1. Quill likes to pose for pictures. Erika thinks the plants are a wild primrose. Taller than a cultivated primrose and with yellow flowers
